His Majesty the King yesterday called on the People Power party-led cabinet to uphold and implement their oaths of office during the swearing-in ceremony for the elected government.
"I would like to urge you to try. It could be hard but I am confident that you can do it. And the country will not be let down.
"Do try to do what you have sworn to do. If you can, just a little, it is still fine. But the more you can do, the better," he told the cabinet led by Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej after they took their oaths of office at Chitralada Palace.
The King also extended moral support to the prime minister and his 35 cabinet ministers in carrying out their roles and fulfilling their pledges.
He said it would be an honour to the government and the entire nation if the cabinet was determined to work in the nation's best interests.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the new cabinet appeared at a press conference to discuss the government's plans. |
