10 Good Reasons for a Family to stay in a Phuket Villa

01 October 2017

Family Friendly Phuket

Choose the right resort in Phuket and it can be a fantastic place for families to holiday. Phuket can be known for being a lively destination and whilst Patong itself is the bustling centre of nightlife and shopping, some families might prefer quieter and calmer resorts.

There are several types of resorts and beaches in Phuket. It’s not hard to find a quiet beach with calm tranquil waters when you know where to look. We would recommend families take a look at Karon, Kata, Kamala, Nai Harn, Natai, Cape Panwa and Bangtao Bay.

There is also a full range of activities and adventures to be had in and around Phuket, as well as all the facilities you will need when travelling with children. Villas have to meet our strict approval criteria before they can be listed on the Thailand Retreats website. We firmly believe a villa is a great option for families and we’ve highlighted some of our family friendly Phuket Villas here.

Here are 10 good reasons to choose a Phuket Villa for your family holiday.

1. Activities

Think wave riding, surfing, water parks, circus arts, Go Karting, kayaking, limestone cave exploring, snorkelling, golf, cooking classes, ziplining, swimming, paddleboarding, paddling and of course building sandcastles. There is little chance to get bored in Phuket. There are so many activities available in and around the island, there will be something for every age. The best part of staying in a villa is that many have family rooms and other activities to help keep you and your children entertained too. Although, if you prefer just to hop in a hammock, you can usually find one.

Try the Villa Padma which has a 25 metre pool, games room, pool table, cinema room and 2 tennis courts on the complex or the Villa Baan Sabai which has a gym, games room, and pool. Villa Amarapura has its own mini pitch and putt golf course, basketball / tennis court, games room, cinema and two swimming pools. Oh and a jacuzzi! The Sava-Vila Cielo even has its own 5 a side football pitch.

2. Space

The beauty of booking a family villa is that you all have enough space to spread out and roam free, whilst still being safely enclosed in a private home. You don’t need to worry about squashing into one hotel room or not having enough room to hang up your holiday clothes.

Our family villas range in size, but some can sleep up to 20 people. As well as having spacious bedrooms, most of our villas have indoor and outdoor family dining facilities, family rooms and tropical gardens to explore and swimming pools. Some have a separate children’s living room or play area.

3.Culinary Experiences

Discovering and indulging in Thai food is likely to be a highlight of your family trip. Popular dishes in Phuket include Kanom Jeen, Mee Hokkien noodles and Phuket style dim sum.

If you have a fussy eater or children that need to eat at a particular time, eating out can sometimes be difficult. In our family villas, you will usually find a luxury kitchen with all the facilities you have at home. Even better, many of our family friendly villas have the option of a full-time chef. So you can choose whether you cook or don’t cook and still eat in.

Most of the in-villa chefs can cook Thai and Western dishes so there is something to cater for all tastes and no guest will be left hungry. If you appreciate Thai food, you will be lucky enough to be experiencing authentic fresh food made to order. Most villas also provide a shopping list and menus. It’s also fine to still eat out when you want to, you just tell the chef

4. The Tech

Many of our villas come equipped with Home Cinema Systems or Plasma TV’s, Satellite Television, DVD Players or digital library subscriptions and the ever important free wifi. Teenager tantrums avoided.

5. Spectacular Sunsets

Try the Ananda villa, sunsets are special here with gorgeous burnt orange and purple colours protruding from the twilight sky. At many of our villas you’ll be able to sit with a sundowner enjoying this beautiful natural wonder. You can ask the in-house staff to whip you up a signature cocktail (or mocktail for the children) for the occasion.

6. Beachside bliss

Several of our villas are directly on the beachfront, so it’s a short stroll from the villa to the beach. Try the beautiful Villa Salafa, which is 100 metres from the unspoilt Layan beach. The villa sleeps 12 and has a lovely pool and sala. Or try the contemporary Villa Shanti which is situated on the beachfront of the secluded Natai beach and has both a lap pool and separate children’s pool.

7. The beaches and kid friendly beach clubs

Even if your villa isn’t set on the beach, it’s likely to be within driving distance from a typical tropical piece of paradise. We recommend Karon, Kata, Kamala, Bangtao bay, Naiharn and Natai beaches.

Phuket is also known for luxury high end beach clubs which are often child friendly in the day. So you can get a day pass, sit back, relax and let someone serve you! Catch beach club at Bang Tao welcomes families to enjoy the beach and sunloungers but unfortunately the pool is adults only. You can also take children to the Re Ka ta on Karon beach.

8. Villa Staff

So many of our villas come with the services of excellent staff that will make your holiday truly memorable. In many of our villas, you’ll experience a daily maid service, with regular bed linen changes. Some of our villas come with a pool towel service. Most of our villas come with a Villa Manager that can help ensure you have a good stay.

You may also find that the Villa Manager or dedicated concierge can arrange activities and excursions for family days out or arrange for in-house visits from beauticians, masseurs and yoga teachers. We’ve already mentioned the excellent chef services you will find at many of our villas too and some also offer a nanny, a housekeeper or a personal driver. The staff will want to ensure you can fully relax and unwind.

9. Private Pool

Most of our villas have a private pool. So there is no need to worry about reserving a sun lounger or what the other guests will be like. It’s just for you and your guests. Infinity pool, children’s pool or jacuzzi hot tub? You’ll find a villa that has what you need.

10. Being Together

Last but by no means least. Our villas have so many options for you to spend special time together as a family making memories. You can dine together, hang around the pool together and play together using the in villa amenities. Thailand is known as the land of smiles for a reason.
