New Years Eve in Thailand 2015

05 May 2015

Christmas and New Year 2015 Highlights - Phuket and Koh Samui

Christmas and New Year is a great time to visit Thailand, you will usually be lucky enough to pad around barefoot on the palm-fringed beaches, enjoy the balmy weather and splash in the clear sparkly sea. Watch the sun go down and if you have the inclination, party through the night until it comes up again. If you are looking to retreat away from it all, contemplate your New Year's resolutions and start some good healthy habits, Thailand can also offer you the perfect start to the year.

This time of year is really popular for travellers to visit the islands of Phuket and Koh Samui. The best Koh Samui Villas tend to get booked a year in advance. The same for the luxurious Phuket villas.

Thailand will be the ultimate location to enjoy the countdown to 2016. Here are some of highlights from Christmas and New Year 2014/15.

So how do they celebrate the New Year around Thailand's beaches?

2015  New Year Celebration Highlights:

PHUKET

Phuket celebrates New Year in a big way and you will be able to see fireworks from most beaches, with a big party on Patong beach. You can also countdown officially to the New Year in Phuket town. You can just grab some eats and drinks and head down to the nearest beach or if you would prefer to celebrate in lavish style choose a gala dinner or party at one of the exclusive beach clubs.

Surin
The Twinpalms resort at Surin beach is popular with the jet set and this year they hosted a New Years Eve Countdown party. The event took place across the Bimi and Catch beach clubs and the Oriental Spoon restaurant. A gala dinner at the Oriental spoon, a beach BBQ at Bimi and a sumptuous affair at Catch with lobster, champagne and chocolate fountains. The countdown party had fireworks, international DJs and signature cocktails galore.

Bang Tao
Xana beach club is hosted a New Years Eve party with a seafood and BBQ buffet and a return of international DJ Jeremy Healy. The Outrigger Laguna Phuket had a sumptuous feast of meats, seafood and salad, fireworks and live performances and music from 7-piece band Rhythm nation.

And at our villas.....

If you choose to stay in one of our luxury Phuket villas over Christmas and New Year you could arrange for an in-house chef to whisk you up a meal as healthy or lavish as you desire. Virgin cocktails or perhaps a dash of your favourite tipple? Many of our villas come with an on site chef service, infinity pool and some even have access to a speedboat for island hopping.

KOH SAMUI

There are several spots across Samui where you can join in New Year's Eve celebrations. If you are after a laid-back evening you can dress casually and stay on the beach, eat at a beach bar and stay to enjoy the fireworks. After the fireworks there will be an opportunity to light a floating lantern and let your wishes for the coming year float skyward.

If you want to celebrate in style with a sumptuous feast, head to one of the islands luxury hotels for the evening. In the mood to party? Select a dazzling beach club.

If you are staying in one of our luxury Samui villas, you may be able to arrange for a Thai chef to create the culinary delights of your choice. These can be washed down with paired wines and a cocktail designed just for you. Samui is a great place to relax and unwind, so if a hammock, a spot of a meditation and some healthy smoothies are more your style - you can find that too.

Chaweng
Chaweng has a lively beach party and bars and restaurants all along the beach will join in the fun. You may see juggling, dancers and plenty of amazing costumes. Poppies Samui created a 5 course delectable feast for New Year 14/15 - with entertainment provided by traditional Thai dancers and a fire show on the beach.

Lamai
The Cliff Bar and Grill has excellent views over the beach and creates a New Years feast -- this year there were mouth-watering delights to savour like lobster, lamb tortellini and mango and orange trifle. Those that visited Beach Republic enjoyed a dinner extravaganza on New Years Eve and a recovery session on New Years Day.

Choeng Mon
The beach at Choeng Mon is family friendly and there is a lower key beach celebration here that is suitable for all. The Sala and Imperial Boat house usually host New Years Eve events too.

Maenam
The W Retreat Koh Samui has some infamous parties and this year it had a Shine on New Year party with feasts at 'The Kitchen Table' and 'Namu' restaurants and a 'ring in the bling' party at Woo Bar with music, DJS, fire dancers, cocktails and Champagne.

Lipa Noi
The trendsetting beach club Nikki Beach hosted a glamourous party called Peace, Love and Music featuring world-class entertainers, live musicians and dancers. There was no beachwear at that party, strictly night time chic.

And at our villas.....

Samudra in Laem Set is a great choice for a relaxing Christmas and rejuvenating before the New Year. It has been chosen as a secret holiday location by a celebrity or two and if it's good enough for Kevin Spacey...

Kamalaya is a spa in the quieter part of Koh Samui and just a stone's throw from our villa Samudra in Laem Set. Their New Years celebration was complete with traditional music and a fire dance on the beach. The spa offers holistic wellbeing activities you can book into whether you want to detox, enhance your yoga and meditation skills or ease into the New Year.
