Beach
Lipa Noi beach has sugary white sand, a tropical paradise. It is much quieter than Chaweng. It’s great for families, with shallow water for paddling. It’s a very relaxing and peaceful beach. It’s not chosen by those who want to party from dusk ‘til dawn and for those that choose it, that’s the appeal.
What to do
The area itself is quiet and surrounded by coconut plantations, but there are some highlights aside from the gorgeous beach. It’s also only a short drive from livelier areas.
Wat Samut Tharam
This golden temple sits on its own beachfront plot of land. It’s worth a visit and is open to visitors.
Nathon
You are just ten minutes away from the town of Nathon. The area is primarily popular with locals. You’ll find ATM’s, souvenirs and convenience stores and the main Post Office here. It’s also home to the main ferry port.
Dusit Dhewa Samui Cultural Centre and Fine Art of South East Asia
The centre is fascinating – the work of Thai national Khun Chart depicts all the cultures of the region through Thai history. You’ll discover stone statues, jungle gardens and if you’re lucky you can arrange for Khun Chart to give you a guided tour.
Eats and Drinks
Lipa Noi has a quiet and laid back atmosphere. There are a handful of restaurants on the beach like The Mango Tree and the Think and Retro café where you can relax and watch the sun go down. Although the area is also famous for being home to luxury beach club Nikki Beach.
