The beaches are a haven for sun worshippers as the long white sandy beaches such as Charu Bay, Baan Tai Bay and Baan Kai Bay separated by mountain springs providing a splendid setting. There is an abundance of bars scattered along the beachfront, but as it is so long it is not too noisy in one particular location. However, the exception is the massive half moon party which moves from Haad Rin to Baan Tai. There is a timetable of events, so that you can choose your time to visit Ban Tai.

There is coconut farming right along the coast, where the palms lean right over the beach, but the main industry as with many of the coastline villages is fishing. There is a small marina and pier in the centre of Ban Tai where boat and fishing trips can be arranged.
The town is centred around the pier has the usual convenience stores, massage shops, art and handicraft shops, internet cafes, motorbike rental, bars and a cluster of seafood restaurants, funky bars and coffe places as well as a bakery.
Either side of the marina, the wide white sand beach gradually slopes to meet the coral reef about 200 metres away. In low tidal season (April to November), swimming on the beach side of the reef is not always possible. Once over the reef, a variety of corals and marine life make the area good for snorkeling.
