The Rawai Beach area in the souh of Phuket offers beautiful views of the neighbouring islands and a great starting point for an island hopping trip. The main attraction for visitors is the beach promenade which is lined with restaurants and the "Sea Gypsies" Fish Market as the beach itself is not a swimming beach but picturesque as the shore is taken up with a good number of long tail and fishing boats.
Rawai is located in Southern Phuket and offers fantastic access to other destinations including Koh Phi Phi for some idyllic island hopping. The seafront is a working harbour and public pier yet you still feel surrounded by nature and is reasonably close to more populated areas such as Patong Beach or Phuket Town.
There are several small karaoke bars and restaurants and as you would expect in Thailand there are small massage shops and souvenir vendors a plenty.
For a more secluded lookout and hangout point, head to Windmill Viewpoint by taxi or scooter for a picture perfect sunset view that doesn't involve jostling through quite so many crowds as at Laem Phromthep Cape.
Spa and Wellbeing
There are many local spa and massage services, one of the best massage salons in Phuket is Phagamast Massage on Soi Saiyuan and Rawai seafront opposite the promenade.
Rawai Beach and seafront
Rawai Beach has very relaxed vibes but is not ideal for lounging, Hat Rawai is a shallow, rocky beach on the east side of Laem Phromthep. Its waters are used as a busy long-tail and speedboat harbour, with seafood grills and local cafe spots lining its low-key promenade.
If you wish to relax on a sandy beach there are two near Rawai, called Nai Harn and Ya Nui both of which are great spots for swimming and snorkelling.
For a fun and easy exploration of Phuket you can catch the newly launched Airport Shuttle Bus along the seafront to other popular spots on the island with picturesque views en route. http://airportbusphuket.com
