Villa Ocean Breeze

Villa Ocean Breeze is a five-bedroom, 500 square metre villa facing north over Choeng Mon bay towards the small island of Koh Fan. What sets it apart from the other five-bedroom houses on the estate is how the view has been shared out. Almost every bedroom has its own private balcony with wicker seating, set at a slightly different height and angle, so guests spread across the floors each get their own version of the same outlook. Nobody takes the best room while everyone else makes do — which, in a villa booked by two or three couples, quietly removes the only awkward conversation of the trip.

The ten-by-four-metre pool runs along the main terrace between the two wings of the house, with sun loungers down one side. On the other sits the villa's most distinctive space — a domed outdoor dining pavilion, open on all sides with a ceiling fan turning above a long table. It works as a separate outdoor room rather than a covered corner of the terrace, and after dark, lit warmly from above, it is where most groups end up eating.

Inside, the living room opens to the terrace through wide sliding doors, with a large sectional sofa facing out to the pool and Koh Fan beyond under a tray ceiling. There is a separate formal dining room with a long live-edge timber table, and behind it an open-plan kitchen with a central island, full-size range and oven, and a second seating area with a television — so a group of ten can spread across three distinct spaces rather than crowding one.

Of the five bedrooms, three kings sit on the upper floors each with a private balcony, alongside a twin room with its own balcony and sitting area. Two further king rooms open directly onto the pool terrace at ground level, which suits grandparents or anyone who would rather not take stairs. There are five bathrooms, three of them en-suite, one finished in warm textured stone with a rainfall shower behind glass.

Parking is on site for two cars. Guests have complimentary use of the estate clubhouse and its 24-hour gym, the tennis court, and the twice-daily shuttle to Choeng Mon beach — shallow, calm and one of the gentler beaches on Samui, with restaurants and a morning market behind it. The estate is gated and government-licensed, with 24-hour security and management on site seven days a week.
