In the exclusive hills above the prime area of Bophut, you will find one of Koh Samui's best-kept secrets.

Villa Suralai is a unique private villa retreat that once inside, guests find it incredibly hard to leave.

Suralai was designed to be the most luxurious private villa on the island. The furniture, fittings and artworks have been painstakingly sourced or custom made for the residence and are all of the highest quality. The expansive living spaces of the main building feature floor-to-ceiling glass which opens to cool mountain breezes in the afternoon, and Bose speakers located throughout the property make it easy to create whatever ambiance that you may wish to create.

As you enter the villa steps lead up to a reflecting pond and to the left is the huge open plan living room with wood-lined vaulted ceiling.

The room is exquisitely furnished with contemporary furniture, artwork and ornaments. But the whole front of the room opens onto a balcony with a glass balustrade that affords spectacular views across the mountains and valley to Bophut Bay and the neighbouring island of Koh Phang Ngan.

A polished dark wooden table and contrasting white chairs occupy one end of the living room with the lounge area with plush contemporary black and white leather sofas and a 50" falt screen TV at the far end. Making up the centre area is a black gloss and chrome open kitchen that runs along the back of the room fronted by a white polished island breakfast bar and stools. At the far end of the room a comfortable lounge area consisting of plush white leather sofas, stone tables, modern sculptures and a 50 inch flat screen TV. This sophisticated room is finished with polished grey terrazzo floor tiles and dark wood.

The wide stone balcony has plenty of outdoor furniture, a further dining area and looks over the garden below, the large pool terrace and the black tiled infinity pool. On either side of the balcony are stone staircases leading to the other levels of this expansive villa.

On the right, steps lead down to the lower level where there are three bedrooms situated below the main living area. Each double bedroom is stylishly fitted with contemporary furniture and artwork, has built-in wardrobes and benefits from an en-suite shower room with twin sinks. Each of these three bedrooms also has a private balcony with day-bed and seating that looks across the sea views and down over the garden and pool.

Staying on the right side, further steps lead you down into the garden and to the pool terrace and pool. At the right end of the pool is a large Sala complete with bar and stools sunken into the pool itself. The Sala has built in benches and comfortable cushioned seating.

Steps from the Sala lead down to a corridor that runs underground and alongside the pool. Sitiated here is the well-equipped gym which also has windows, allowing sea views, and doors that open into a garden and lawn area.

Stepping stones lead from this garden up to the first of three master suites that occupy a three-storey building. The ground floor suite sits below the pool level with views over the garden and over the valley to the ocean. It has a separate dressing area, twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a distinctive grey circular terrazzo bathtub.

Above this room, at poolside level, is another suite with separate dressing area, a modern four poster bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower and an oval shaped grey terrazzo bathtub.

On the third story of this master pavilion is yet another suite that again has a dressing area, a four poster bed and an en-suite bathroom with shower and grey oval shaped terrazzo bathtub. In each of these suites the bathtubs are positioned at the front of the rooms with windows maximising the stunning panoramic views.

Finally, steps lead back up onto the wide balcony and to the lounge, kitchen and dining area. This is a very large property that has been beautifully designed to provide both private and practical accommodation that's suitable for large families or groups of friends. The flexibility of the villa also makes it an ideal choice for weddings and events.

This is an exceptional villa that combines modern luxury and design with the complete privacy and exclusivity.

Suralai was the residence of the angels in Thai mythology and, being situated alone and right on the top of a mountain, this seems an appropriate name.

TEMPORARY REVISED CANCELLATION POLICY- CODIV-19

In the event that your trip is disrupted by the coronavirus, and you wish to cancel within 90 days of your arrival date.

New bookings made after Feb 19, 2020 - Book with Confidence guarantee:

  1. If you wish to cancel your booking, we will supply you with the necessary paperwork to file a claim with your travel insurance.
  2. If you are not covered by travel insurance, we will convert your booking into a credit note which allows you to rebook the same villa or chalet during the same rate period (season) within 12 months of your original arrival date. You may choose the travel dates later, as long as the stay is completed within 12 months of the original check-in date.
  3. If your country of residence issues a travel ban or a warning of ‘Do not travel’ (or equivalent) to the destination booked; or your flight is cancelled and alternatives are not available; or you will be government-enforced quarantined coming back from one of our destinations; we will refund your booking in full.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Credit will be based on booking value paid.
  • Valid on bookings paid in full or where only deposit value has been paid and the remaining amount is pending.
  • Rebooking will be at the same villa under the same client/booking name.
  • Credit valid for 12 months from arrival date of the original booking.
  • Rate/promo, inclusions and booking terms for new bookings will follow terms in place at the time of re-booking.
  • Any unused credit will not be refunded and if the booking value is higher, the difference must be paid.
  • Selected periods/seasons are not available for re-bookings.
  • Applies to select villas and chalets.
  • You are required to contact the Elite Havens team a week prior to arrival.

Disruption may include enforced company or country quarantine, concern for young or elderly or infirm within a group, flight cancellations, travel advisories and removal of insurance cover. Proof may be required.

Bophut is located in the north of Koh Samui between Big Buddha and Maenam and it is considered a popular place to stay or visit as it is a good compromise between the hustle and bustle of the larger towns on the east coast and the more tranquil setting of the south and west coasts.

Most famous for it’s Friday night walking street market which is well worth a visit on a Friday night from 4.30 - 10.30
